.

Fresh off a 1:49.1 track record setting score in last weekend’s edition of the Mares Open, the Travis Umphrey-trained A Ps Money Maker kicked off the night with a 1:51 victory in line to Rick Zeron, who scored a total of five wins on the 11-race program.

Voelz Hanover (Mario Baillargeon) left alertly from Post 4 and reached the opening quarter in :27-seconds. At that point, Meredith Maguire N and Luc Ouellette pulled the pocket and brushed to command before the three-eighths marker.

As ‘Meredith’ reached the half in :55.4, Zeron sent A Ps Money Maker first up from fifth and applied heavy pressure to the leading lady past three-quarters in 1:23.2. A Ps Money Maker blew past ‘Meredith’ in the stretch and kicked home in :27.3 for the two and a half length score in 1:51. Blissful Smile (Jack Moiseyev) edged out Voelz Hanover for second.

A Ps Money Maker paid $3.50 as the bettor’s choice. The five-year-old Cardmaster Hanover-Mint Kondition mare, a winner of six races in 23 starts and nearly $270,000 this year, is owned by Terry Hamilton of Lethbridge, Joe Tinelli of St. Albert and the Shir Win Racing Stable of Edmonton, Alta. A winner of 19 races lifetime, A Ps Money Maker boasts a bankroll totaling $576,088.

Anderlecht made a successful transition to the Open class with his 1:50.3 victory for driver Phil Hudon and trainer Igor Vrablic.

Anderlecht sped off the gate from Post 4 parking Mr Apples (Mario Baillargeon) from the next spot over in a :26-second opening quarter. Mr Apples found room to duck into the pocket and followed Anderlecht the rest of the way through middle stations of :54.3 and 1:22.1.

Anderlecht built up a three-length lead by three-quarters and was good to go for the stretch drive. He coasted home in :28.2 for the one and a half length victory in 1:50.3. Keystone Horatio (Randy Waples) rallied off cover to get second and Get Out Of Dodge (Rick Zeron) followed for third over Mr Apples.

The winner returned $7.40 as the 5-2 second choice. He is owned by the Black Road Stable of Cambridge and the Point Zero Seven Racing of Burlington, Ont. The five-year-old son of Cams Card Shark-Princess Chablis earned his sixth win in 22 starts and pushed his earnings to nearly $184,000. Also a winner of 19 races lifetime, Anderlecht now boasts $557,615 in career winnings.

The early Daily Double paid $15.30.
