Bob Shahan and Donald Marine’s Political Cash ($4.60, Allan Davis) reset the track record for two-year-old trotting geldings Wednesday with a 2:00 win as the fastest of six Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) eliminiations at Harrington Raceway.
Trained by Shahan, the Political Briefing-Cashmere Sahbra gelding set all the fractions and held off Political Foe through the stretch for his second career win in three lifetime starts.
Political Cash broke Egosnattitudes' track record, who set the mark last week.
Egosnattitudes (Jon Roberts) completed a sweep of his elimination legs earlier on the program with a 2:04.4 triumph for trainer Bib Roberts and owners Roberts, Graham Grace Stables and M&W Stables. The Great George Two-Aerobic Linda gelding improved to two-fo-three in his young career.
Trainer and co-owner Shahan was back at it in the remaining colt and gelding division with Save The Night (George Dennis). Co-owned by Shahan and George Brem, the Political Briefing-Athenea gelding was a 2:02.4 winner in his division.
Each of the filly winners fulfilled sweeps of their eliminations as Carlo Poliseno and Foulk Stables’ Penny Paratrooper ($2.40, Ross Wolfenden) was the first to triumph in 2:03.2. Trained by Poliseno, the CR Commando-CR Penny Lane filly is two-for-two in her career.
Scott Woogen’s Sign N Drive ($2.10, Victor Kirby) was an easy 2:03.4 victor for trainer Duane Wagner. The CR Commando-Tybridge filly has three wins in four career starts.
Trainer Bib Roberts recorded another win on the card with Callmemza ($2.60, Jon Roberts). Co-owned by Bib Roberts, Graham Grace Stables and M&W Stables, the Great George Two-Endorphan Annie filly, Callmemza is now three-for-four in her career after a 2:04.3 triumph.
The top eight point earners among the fillies and colts and geldings will return to compete in their respective $100,000 final events Wednesday, October 22.
Ross Wolfenden had four winners on the program. Kirby and Jon Roberts each won three races, while Corey Callahan and Allan Davis had a double.
