According to Harness Racing BC, the organization has reached an agreement on a plan with the Great Canadian Gaming Corporation in regard to the implementation of live standardbred race dates for 2011
.
According to HRBC, the proposal calls for 70 guaranteed dates from January 1 (including New Year's Day) through to December 31 with a further 12 dates set as an incentive to meet set objectives.
The agreement reportedly states that if the mutuel handle increases 2 per cent and an average field size of 8.5 horses is maintained, the increased dates will be added, thus bringing the total live dates in 2011 to 82.
Cards of live racing would be conducted on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until April 15, and the schedule would then see a three-day-a-week schedule again from October 7 to December 31.
There was no indication in the release as to if the race dates would be conducted at Fraser Downs or Hastings Park.
