Michigan Petition Gets Go-Ahead

The Detroit News has reported that a group in Michigan entitled 'Racing to Save Michigan' has received the go-ahead to begin circulating petitions to voters within the next six weeks.

The petition seeks to get a proposal on the November 2010 ballot which would see voters choose whether eight more casinos -- five of which would be located at state horse racetracks -- would get the go-ahead.

"Without this, horse racing in Michigan is all but dead," said Daniel Adkins, vice president of Hazel Park Raceway.
