
Brookdale Johnny flew from sixth to first in the last eighth of a mile to capture the Tuesday, Oct. 14 featured conditioned event at Red Shores Summerside.
Doc Awesome (Adam Merner) set up the fractions of :28.2, :57.1 and 1:26 before Brookdale Johnny, who was was sitting fifth at the head of the lane, slid off the cones and chased down the pacesetter in deep-stretch to notch his third victory in a row and stop the timer in 1:55.1. Doc Awesome was beaten by a neck in second with Howmac Exclusive (Corey MacPherson) completing the triactor.
Brookdale Johnny, driven to victory by Paul Langille, is a homebred for Douglas and Doug Polley of Amherst, N.S. Phil Sizer was the winning trainer of the five-year-old son of Rockin In Heaven-Brookdale Gia. The gelding is 21-for-111 lifetime with $155,952 in earnings. He returned $9 to win.
Langille, Sizer, and the Polley ownership team also sent Brookdale Shelley ($11.30) to victory lane in the evening’s opener. Langille scored with Redland Misspretty ($15.50) for trainer Kyle Williams to record the driving triple, while First Glance ($12.20), trained by Devon Wallace, won the finale to give Langille the grand slam on the night.
Drivers Brodie MacPhee, Ken Murphy, MacPherson, and Merner recorded driving doubles on the program.
