Hugh Heff wrote another winning line in his resume on Monday, Oct. 14 at Northside Downs, extending his lead as the winningest Standardbred in North America after taking the $1,600 Winners Over Pace while notching his eighth straight victory.
Randy Getto took the Dana Getto student to the gate in post six. The pair left hard from the outside post and accepted the pocket behind Revenant (Mark Pezzarello) through the quarter in :29. Hugh Heff moved to the outside en route to the half in 1:00, continuing in second on the outside through the three-quarters in 1:30.2. Hugh Heff and Revenant continued to battle home, but Hugh Heff did the better work, stepping a quarter-length in front in 2:01.1. Revenant had to settle for second and Kraken Seelster (Ardon Mofford) completed the show ticket.
Hugh Heff, a four-year-old gelded son of Betterthancheddar and the Rocknroll Hanover mare Danika Patrix, is owned by Randy Getto, Susan Macsween and Wayne Hardy.
