An early break in stride prevented No Plan Intended from crossing the wire first in his latest outing but he will seek redemption in the top class at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park on Saturday (Oct. 15).
The historic capital oval has 10 dashes on display Saturday afternoon with a 12:30 P.M. opening post time.
No Plan Intended is the morning line favourite in the $3,300 Preferred Pace feature in the ninth race. Jason Hughes gets the driving assignment for conditioner Jennifer Doyle, who co-owns with Danny Birt of Earnscliffe. The Governor’s Plate Champion son of Up The Credit has won nine races in 2022 while banking $137,520 in purse money from 30 seasonal starts.
Top three-year-old pacing colt Fern Hill General has post five in the class after winning his last two starts for the team of driver Brodie MacPhee and trainer Tom Weatherbie. The Malicious sophomore is a six-time winner this season with more than $47,000 earned. Driver Gilles Barrieau celebrated win number 5,000 of his career last week with Mc Pat and will drive that same trainee from post two in the Saturday afternoon Preferred. Rounding out the field are Blue Monk (Marc Campbell), Burn Out Hanover (Brady Sweet) and Navalny (Adam Merner).
The Post Time Picks in Saturday’s card likes No Plan Intended to find his way back to the winner’s circle.
“No Plan Intended made an early break in the Premier’s Cup but recovered to finish third. He’s also back in the same post and gets a new pilot so we’re predicting he hits double digits in the win column.”
Race 3 is the $2,800 back-up class and newcomer Spicey P is set to continue making an impression on East Coast harness racing. Hughes trains and drives the son of Up The Credit for owner Robi Hughes of Stratford. Spicey P has won two of his last three races including a seasonal mark of 1:54.3 in his latest.
