Harness racing returns to Northlands this weekend, with race cards scheduled for Friday evening, at 6:00 p.m, along with Saturday and Sunday matinees beginning at 1:00

p.m.

Ten dashes are on tap for opening night of the Fall meet on Friday, with eight Superfecta fields and a Win 4 beginning in Race 6.

A field of five well-matched fillies and mares will compete in the Race 2 'top class event' featuring Crying Over You, Too Ideal, Sealedwithapromise, Lady And Thetrench and morning-line favourite Wrangler Raine. After watching Crying Over You's latest 'locked and blocked' effort you have to love her chances with the inside post.

On Saturday afternoon Northlands features two $50,000 stake events for three-year-olds, with the Marquis Final for girls and the Maverick Final for boys going in Races 8 and 10 respectively.

Minettas Nightstar, Clintons Keepsake, Dewinton Destroyer and Promise Me Pez, all sent out by Hall of Famer Keith Clark, will be looking to steal a huge piece of the $50,000 pie on the filly side. Last year's filly champ Im Sheila, with Kelly Hoerdt, was fastest (1:55.3) in winning her Alberta Downs elim, at 11-1, and will have victory lane on her mind once again. Also entered are Barona Josie, B C Fantasy and Feelin Flush.

In the boy's final Gerry Hudon returns with a good looking pair of geldings in Hollywood Warrior and Bachelor Pad. Each were gate-to-wire winners of their elims in Lacombe last weekend. Silver Eagle, going out for Lance Ward, has been the dominate force, in stakes action, all season long and will have to do better this time out after salvaging fourth in his elim last Saturday. Ryan Grundy sends out the fast closing Wannabe Cowboy - should this guy have any kind of speed to chase, at all, he will be heard from. Others to consider will be Caress of Steel, Tap Room and Red Star Tiger.

Top pacer Sixdaysontheroad is back on Alberta soil after racing in Ontario from January, of 2010, thru to March of this year.

Owned by Wally Moroz and Willie Wychopen the five-year-old stallion son of Allamerican Native will start in Saturday afternoon's fifth race against the likes of fast classers Flak Jacket, Smart Shark, All Canadian Mjjz, Greek Ruler and Hilldrop Shady.

Now trained by Joe O'Brien, Sixdaysontheroad has 17 wins and $182,943 earned from 39 career starts. 'Sixpack', with Bill Tainsh Jr. up, will be making his first start in seven months, as the 2-1 morning-line favourite, from post seven of a field of eight.
