Ilia Captures NJSS Green Acres Final

On Thursday, October 13 at Freehold Raceway, the heavily-favoured Ilia swept to victory in the $25,000 final of the New Jersey Sire Stakes Green Acres for three-year-old trotting fillies

With Jeff Gregory driving, the daughter of Windsongs Legacy took the lead from Pure Barre at the half-mile mark and stayed in front to the wire in 2:00. Pure Barre had the early lead with a three-wide move to the quarter-mile pole, but had to settle for second. Dont Cry Lindy finished third.

It was the fifth win in nine starts this year for the Linda Toscano-trained Ilia, who had won all three of her preliminary legs of the NJSS Green Acres series.

Ilia is owned by Paul F. Spears of York, Pennsylvania, and Paul E. and Josephine Spears of Hanover, PA.
