Run And Tell swept from last to first at the half and drew off to win the $50,000 British Columbia Sires Stakes Final for two-year-old pacing fillies on Friday night at Fraser Downs.
The field of five fillies lined up in post position order through a :30-second opening panel with insider Jay Majic (David Hudon) showing the way. But driver Kevin Anderson sent the trailing Run And Tell on the attack during the second panel and cleared to command at the midway mark in 1:00.1.
Run And Tell raced to the third quarter station in 1:29 and continued to draw away from the field down the stretch to score a five and three-quarter length victory in a new lifetime mark of 1:58.3. Jay Majic stayed for second while 1-2 favourite Go To The Windows (Dennis Johnston) was the best of the rest as the remaining two starters were distanced after making breaks throughout the mile.
Run And Tell paid $4.50 to win as the second choice in the wagering.
The homebred Power Of Art-Muddy Waters filly is now four-for-five in her career with wins in two preliminary Sires Stakes legs. Friday's victory boosted her career bankroll to $34,606 for trainer Debra McCarthy and owner Mark Anderson of Willows, California.
In other racing action, Sterling Cooper ($4) scored back-to-back Open wins for trainer/driver David Hudon and local owners Kelly Hudon and Mary Jane Wiggins. The five-year-old Camluck gelding followed up a 1:52.1 career-best victory from last weekend with a 1:52.4 triumph in Friday's $10,000 event. He has won six of his last seven races and is 12-for-19 on the year.
Two-year-old British Columbia-sired pacing colts and geldings will face off in their $50,000 BCSS Final on Saturday night in the first race. Post time is 7 p.m. PDT.
