Jacks Legend N posted a 14-1 upset in Monday night’s (Oct. 11) featured $48,000 Open Handicap Pace at Yonkers Raceway.

Starting from post 7 and driven by Matt Kakaley, Jacks Legend N floated away from the gate and found a seat in third while None Bettor A and Mark MacDonald blasted to the top from post 3, cutting opening-half fractions of :26.4 and :55.2. Late on the third turn, Kakaley gave Jacks Legend N his first-over marching orders, and he was able to get into second before None Bettor A hit three-quarters in 1:22.4.

Jacks Legend N remained on the rim around the last turn and into the lane, but in mid-stretch he forged by None Bettor A. Jacks Legend N’s work wasn’t done, though, as 4-5 favourite Splash Brother, piloted by Tyler Buter, was closing in. However Jacks Legend N dug in and fought off Splash Brother by a head in a 1:50.3 mile. Dragon Said, steered by Joe Bongiorno, was the third-place finisher.

Trainer Josh Green also co-owns Jacks Legend N, a seven-year-old Bettors Delight gelding, with partners Rich Lombardo Racing LLC., David Kryway, and Eric Good. Jacks Legend N posted his 26th victory, and he has now earned $635,777. He paid $30.00 to win and was atop a $166.00 exacta and a $521.00 trifecta.

Including Jacks Legend N’s surprise, post-time favourites went zero-five overall during Monday night’s Pick 5 sequence. As a result, there were no winning tickets in the Pick 5, triggering a $5,893.44 carryover and a $15,000 guaranteed pool in the wager on Tuesday night (Oct. 12). Additionally, there’s a carryover of $2,866.06 in the Pick 6.

The guarantee in the Pick 5 is being offered as part of the United States Trotting Association’s Strategic Wagering Program. Free past performances for the Pick 5, courtesy of TrackMaster, will be available here. The Pick 5, which begins in Race 5, and the Pick 6, which starts in Race 3, both have a takeout rate of 20 percent.

Yonkers Raceway’s 12-race program on Tuesday (Oct. 12) kicks off at 7:15 p.m. (EDT). The featured event comes up in the seventh and is the $50,000 final of the Pop-Up Series for older pacing males.
