Donald and Leander Beaton's Docs Ronhenry ($8.20) scooted away up the far side, and then dug in late to fend off a late charge from odds-on favourite Hughgetthecredit in Sunday's (Oct. 11) featured pace at Inverness Raceway.
Docs Ronhenry protected his pole position to secure the early lead, and he controlled a 1:00 first half while completely uncontested. After using a :29.3 third quarter to dismiss of pocket rival Tipperbackjack and speeding away from the field, the nine-year-old Million Dollar Cam gelding found himself in the crosshairs of Hughgetthecredit — who spun three-wide around a stalled Dashpedia — turning for home. Docs Ronhenry found the line in time, prevailing by a neck in 1:59.3 over Hughgetthecredit. Dashpedia was third, nine lengths farther back.
Trainer Leander Beaton drove Docs Ronhenry to the 26th win of his career and his seventh this season.
