It was a record-setting day on Prince Edward Island as for the first time in Atlantic Canadian history total sales exceeded $1 million at the 2019 Atlantic Classic Yearling Sale, held on Friday (Oct. 11) at the Crapaud Agri-Plex in Crapaud, P.E.I.
Woodmere Fenn was the sale topper at $26,000, sold to Pat Morris of Charlottetown. The Rollwithitharry gelding was consigned by Woodmere Farms from their 1:50.3 record broodmare Four Starz Roe.
Woodmere Farms also consigned the top selling filly, Woodmere Cha Cha, which sold for $23,750 to Morah Kerr, Phonsie MacEachern and Steve Downey.
The top selling trotter was Infinite Force, consigned by Michael Clarey and Edward Blaisdell, and sold to Rick Adams for $10,500.
“We were able to achieve $1.1 million in gross sales as a result of the tremendous support from our buyers, great quality offerings from our consignors, and increased support from the provincial government into the PEI Harness Racing Industry,” said Sale Manager Wayne Pike.
