The Autumn Series for two- and three-year-old Ontario-sired trotting colts and geldings kicked off on Sunday (Oct. 10) at Flamboro Downs with a pair of $8,500 divisions for the opening preliminary contested on the 11-race card.

Thomas P Two took his competition coast to coast as the odds-on second choice to best odd-on favourite Doro Sogno in a 2:00.2 mile. Protecting position from the pylon post, trainer-driver Wayne Henry rated Thomas P Two on the point through fractions of :30.2, 1:01.3 and 1:31.3. Doro Sogno inherited second passing the half when Unresolved Debt lost stride and gave chase to the pacesetter from that spot through the remainder of the mile, settling for second to Thomas P Two by 1-1/2 lengths. Massive Ovation finished third another six lengths behind and Q Tip took fourth.

A sophomore colt by Angus Hall, Thomas P Two won his third race from five starts, earning $11,270. Mark Wamp owns the $3.90 winner.

Dirt replicated the trip of the other division winner when pushing for the lead from the pylons and holding firm to the line, taking his split in a 2:01.2 mile. The sophomore Angus Hall gelding led unchallenged through opening fractions of :30.4 and 1:02.1, but faced pressure up the backside from first-over Monster Mash to three-quarters in 1:31.4. Dirt easily rebuffed that challenger to the final turn and strolled home a two-length winner over Promise For Life, while Monster Mash faded to third and Muscles D Oro took fourth.

Owned by Saltwater Stables, Dirt broke his maiden in his seventh start while pushing his bankroll to $6,225. Bruce Richardson piloted the $15.80 winner.
