Color Envy Wins Plainridge Feature

Published: October 10, 2019 07:11 pm EDT

After two sharp, close finishes at Yonkers Raceway in her most recent starts, Color Envy returned to Plainridge Park and captured the $12,000 feature pace for fillies and mares on Thursday afternoon.

Color Envy (Mitchell Cushing) got away sixth in the pack of nine off the gate but was out and rolling before the half. That’s where she picked up cover from Y C Easy (Kevin Switzer, Jr.) into the backstretch. When that cover stalled approaching the three-quarters Color Envy tipped three-deep and continued to make up ground on the front running Avery Seelster (John Nason). By the top of the stretch Color Envy was only a length off and drew even with the leader quickly, then drew away by a length to win in 1:54.

Color Envy ($2.20) is owned by William Hart and trained by Lance Hudson.

Cushing led all drivers on Thursday, winning three races.

Live racing resumes at Plainridge Park on Friday at 2 p.m.
