Mike Hall's St Kitts was an upset winner in the $17,500 Mares Open Tuesday at Harrington Raceway with a 1:53.1 triumph.

The four-year-old Somebeachsomewhere mare sat behind pacesetting favourite Miss Me Yet throughout and edged clear near the wire. Miss Me Yet held second while Sweet Bobbie was placed third. Trained by Doug Lewis, it was the seventh win of the year for St Kitts ($24, Jon Roberts). The win gave Roberts a driving double on the card.

Driver Victor Kirby (three wins) started the night in fine fashion after taking both halves of the Daily Double with Spanish Dream ($5.80) and Ok Jasmine ($4).

Kirby maintains a two win lead in the driver standings over Allan Davis with just six nights of live racing remaining in the 2017 meet. Brian Malone has a three win lead over Josh Green in the trainer standings.
