Fresh off a win in last week’s third leg of the Champions Pacing Series, Rush Rules survived a first-over journey to capture the $29,400 final Saturday at Sudbury

Downs.

Bumblebee Road (Pascal Berube) used the inside post to his advantage and took on the role of the tempo-setter leading the field through early fractions of :28.4 and :58.1. Rush Rules and Justin Turcotte was beginning to creep up on the leader and the son of Scooter Scott-Sf Cavalier landed the top spot at the 1:28 third quarter check in. Using a :29.4 final quarter, Rush Rules, sent postward at odds of 7-1, pulled away from the field by three lengths to secure the win in 1:57.4.

Secret Weapon (Gerry Belanger), apart of the favoured entry, came on for second and No Competition (David Dowling) was third.

Robert Truman of Harbor Springs, Michigan owns and bred the five-year-old gelding, who is trained by Rick Shakes. The win was his sixth in 21 starts this year pushing his earnings to over $60,000. The winner of 18 races lifetime sports a bankroll totaling $119,920.

The victory was one of four on the 12-race card for Turcotte.
