The $10,000 Preferred Pace highlighted the 11-race Sunday, Oct. 1 card at Rideau Carleton Raceway, where Jet Rock and Robert Shepherd had to pass them all to score the 3-1 victory.
Leaving from post three in the field of eight, Shepherd and Jet Rock could see them all at the quarter-pole as Dylans Bank and Stephane Brosseau emerged atop the field after an early skirmish for the lead in a hot :26.4.
Jet Rock vacated the pylons in the second quarter, finding himself third-over in seventh as Dylans Bank continued to lead the field to the half in :56. Shepherd was ready to move Jet Rock off cover from sixth at three-quarters while Dylans Bank was joined on the lead by I Ama Rocket and Pascal Berube on the lead in 1:24.1.
Jet Rock exploded off cover as the top-level pacers rounded the final turn, rocketing home with a :27.4 final quarter to open up by three lengths on the line to stop the timer in 1:52.3. Hes Got A Vendetta and William Roy rallied for second at 51-1, with I Ama Rocket holding for the third spot. Jet Rock paid $8.30 to win.
Trained by Isabelle Darveau, Jet Rock picked up his second consecutive victory and fifth of 2023 in 33 seasonal outings. Owned by Ecurie CSL- and Les Ecuries Dorleans Inc., the seven-year-old gelded son of Rocknroll Heaven-Jet Wash has banked $328,055 lifetime to go along with his 32 career victories in 148 starts.
