Grand River Raceway is sending out a stable of four representatives to the Trot Canada National Handicapping Championship this year. Included in this talented bunch is retiree Clare 'Shoppy' Cressman

.

Shoppy has been a racing fan for over 65 years and is enjoying his retirement watching horse racing and fixing cars.

This Elmira native spends most of his time at his home track, Grand River Raceway, but is gearing up to bring home the $25,000 grand prize from Georgian Downs on October 30 when he will go head to head with players from across the country vying for the title of top handicapper.

Here’s an inside look at this contender:

Favourite Racetrack – Grand River Raceway
Favourite Driver – Trevor Henry
Favourite Food – Chicken Fingers
Favourite Stakes Race – Canadian Pacing Derby
Favourite Celebrity – Elivis Presley
Favourite Horse of all Time – Dannys Song A

Shoppy can’t wait to try his skills out against the best the country has to offer and plans to buy a new car with the $25,000 grand prize should he be able to pull off the win.
