Mystic Splendor continued his winning ways with a 1:57 outing in the $9,000 featured fifth race at Vernon Downs on Friday night

First to the quarter, Mystic Splendor ($7.80) got shuffled back to third before rallying in the homestretch to win the week’s top Miracle Mile trot.

It was the second win in a row and fourth at the meet for the bay son of Giant Hit-Mystic Virtue, who improved his lifetime chart to nine first-place finishes and earnings of $64,162. Chris Lems did the driving for owner-trainer Jessica Okusko and her partner, Kenneth Finnerty.

The two-year-old trotter New Zion (Robert Krivelin driving for trainer Sergio Corona, Henry Wieseneck and the Hero Stables) and pacer Myfellowameripans (Lewayne Miller teaming for trainer Erv Miller and the Peter Pan Stables) each chalked up their initial pari-mutuel victory during the track’s 72nd program.
