British Columbia's minister of housing and social development, Rich Coleman, has said that he is expecting an official request for a full-service casino to be considered in Surrey
.
The minister has been quoted as saying that just because an official request has come in, it doesn't mean that the casino will necessarily be coming.
“They can ask us,” Coleman was quoted as saying in an article on surreyleader.com. “All that means is we might look at the market.”
Surreyleader.com reported last week that there are three applications in for gaming facilities along the King George Highway corridor – including plans for two major destination casinos.
BC's five-eighths mile Fraser Downs Racetrack is located in Surrey.
