Bee Two Bee will go for his sixth straight when racing returns to Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park for its first card of 2026 on Saturday, Jan. 10.
The 14-dash Saturday program kicks off at 12:30 p.m., with the $5,100 Preferred Pace in race 13 highlighting the card with a deep group of top-level pacers.
Captainofrocknroll will leave from post one with Ken Murphy driving for trainer Jennifer Doyle in his first start in Canada after racing in New York. Impeccable Shadow is a major contender from post two with Paul Langille aboard after winning his last two. Howmac Maximus draws post three for driver Corey MacPherson and trainer Tammy Collings, while Merigo Magic lines up from post four for trainer/driver Adam Merner after hitting the triactor in all his Preferred appearances. T H Boomtown gets post five with Gilles Barrieau handling the lines from the Ron Matheson barn after winning the Preferred 2 in his last start.
Race favourite Bee Two Bee will start from post six with Jason Hughes driving from the Ashley Gamester stable. The son of Sunshine Beach has won his last five starts at this level and has not raced since Dec. 20.
The Backstretch Beat is siding with Bee Two Bee for the win: “Bee Two Bee is on a major roll right now and was a dominant gate-to-wire winner last time out. He’s been assigned post six for this start, but won from here before so we’re calling for the win streak to hit six straight.”
The $4,200 Open Trot goes in the seventh and features another classic match-up between Buckhead Ridge, to be driven by Barrieau, for trainer Landon Campbell from post four and Fight Song (Hughes) with post five.
The $2,900 PEISHOA Pace is slated for race five and has Dusty Lane Zoro (Donald MacNeill) the top choice from post five for trainer Ronnie Gass.
Drew Campbell, a Maritime native who plies his trade primarily in Maine, returns to action with a pair of drives after last racing at Plainridge Park in September. The winner of 6,140 races and $23 million in purses will steer Majestic Mason for trainer Rick Armstrong in race eight and Doctor Grenfell in race 14 for trainer Nicholas Oakes.
