Grand Slam For Moreau At Mohawk Park

Resting on his laurels is clearly something that isn’t on trainer Richard Moreau’s 'to do' list judging by the way his barn has come out of the blocks in the 2023 season.

Moreau, who captured yet another training title on Canada’s toughest oval in 2022, sent out four winners on Monday evening’s 11-race card at the Campbellville oval. 

Night Club Hanover (1:53.3) posted a mild upset in Race 2 for Moreau to get the ball rolling and stablemate Gigondas (1:55.3) followed up with a sharp, front-stepping triumph in Race 5.  Speaking Of Art (1:52.4) was aggressively handled and came away with a narrow score of his own in Race 8, and to cap off the big night, it was Flash Cube (1:52.2) scooting up the rail to capture the finale.

Early next month, Moreau will be among those in attendance for the O’Brien Awards, and it will be a special one for the Quebec native as he takes aim at capturing an unprecedented 10th consecutive trophy as the nation’s leading conditioner.
