Best Show In Town was involved in a game of follow the leader in Thursday’s $12,100 Preferred Pace at Rideau Carleton Raceway, and the roan gelding came out on top thanks to a solid final quarter kick.

In rein to Todd Warren, the seven-year-old son of Grinfromeartoear parked race favourite Leader Bayama to the quarter pole in :28 seconds before releasing that popular foe to the front. Leader Bayama threw down middle splits of :58 and 1:27.4 before being pulled on by Best Show In Town.

The Gerard Demers pupil edged past the pacesetter in deep stretch en route to the quarter-length decision at odds of 12-1. Leader Bayama was second best as the 1-5 choice while Imjustalittleguy rounded out the top three.

Owned by 9174 7998 Quebec Inc. of Blainville, QC, Best Show In Town notched his 33rd lifetime victory while pushing his career earnings near $280,000.
