Karpathos has found his niche as of late, and on Monday he scored his second straight win in the $16,000 Open Trot at Pompano Park.
Joe Pavia Jr. guided Karpathos to the 1:55.2 victory for owner/trainer Geoff Howles of Pompano Beach, FL. The gelding took the early lead away from Guy Gets Girl as the rolled past the opening quarter in :28.2.
The eight-year-old son of Balanced Image led the field past the half-mile marker in :57.3 and then the three-quarter pole in 1:25.4. Karpathos kicked home in :29.3 en route to winning by a half-length over Battleshoe Victor. Guy Gets Girl was third.
It was the 38th lifetime win for the full brother to Earl (1:54.2 - $984,318).
