Photo Maxx stormed down the lane to overtake a wall of challengers in deep stretch to win the $26,000 Open Trot at Dover Downs on Wednesday
.
As in his previous win two starts back, driver Mike Cole put Photo Maxx into high gear entering the stretch and the SJs Photo-Affinity gelding zoomed past a foursome of challengers to front-trotting Starsel and rolled on for an impressive 1:55.1 conquest in the week’s top trot. Libra Vita (Corey Callahan), burdened with Post 8, also closed strongly to finish second. Cold Winner (Yannick Gingras) finished third while Starsel, fifth, finished out of first or second for the first time in more than seven starts. Photo Max has now won $377,294 in his career.
Nordic Venture, driven by trainer Vince Copeland, made good use of dropping down from the Open ranks and a post position change from the outside to registered a 1:56.4 victory in an $18,000 Winners Over Trot. Amy and Stew Oldford own the altered son of Keystone Nordic-Allegheny Moon. The $239,578 lifetime winner was chased home by veteran Batalj Launcher (Ron Pierce) and Good Feeling (Ross Wolfenden), second and third respectively.
Anders Bluestone, piloted by Ross Wolfenden, took on favourite LTs Best (Vince Copeland) on the turn for home and then pulled away for a 1:55.4 score in his first start for new owners Ken Wood and Bill Dittmar. LTs Best was second.
Glenda Fulcher’s Counsel, driven by Ron Pierce was placed first in a $13,000 trot when Jabez (Matt Kakaley), the apparent 1:56.2 winner, was disqualified and placed fifth for several pylon violations and an interference in the stretch. Man O Matic (Tony Morgan) was moved up to second with Matrix Hall (Ross Wolfenden) placed third.
