Frost Free Hanover closed with a rush to win the $20,000 Open Handicap Trot on Wednesday (January 4) at Dover Downs.
Next to last on the backstretch, meet-leading driver Vic Kirby got Frost Free Hanover going heading to the three-quarters and the six-year-old gelding powered home to win in 1:54.4. Lou Man (Jonathan Roberts), who led entering the stretch, finished second with Uva Hanover (Tony Morgan) third, ahead of Tough Mac (Corey Callahan).
Rich Poillucci owns the Cantab Hall-Free Spirit gelding trained by Jim King Jr. Frost Free Hanover earned his 13th career win while lifting his earnings $177,863.
Bluebird Reverend notched his second win of the meet in the $15,000 Winners Over Trot for Montrell Teague. The Indiana-bred altered son of Swan For All and Little Revenue shook off a challenge from runner-up Go Byem (Jim Morand) heading for the far turn and then pulled off for a decisive victory in 1:53.4.
Bobby Reeser conditions the five-year-old gelding and co-owns with Holly Case, Denise Dennis and John Johannsen. The win was Bluebird Reverend's 14th lifetime and brings his bankroll to $348,004.
Tony Morgan and Corey Callahan each had a four-win night. Ross Wolfenden and trainers Jim King Jr. and John Cabot had doubles.
Seventh Secret and Arque Hanover, both winners last week, square off in the $30,000 Preferred Pace on Thursday. Post time is 4:30 p.m.
