Zeus Lightning survived a first-over trip Monday evening at Woodbine Racetrack en route to posting a mini upset in the $34,000 Preferred Handicap Trot.

Sent off at odds of 9-2, Zeus Lightning got away fifth for driver Jody Jamieson while Burnin Money and race favourite Fearless Man took turns on the lead through fractions of :27.1, :57 and 1:26.1. Jamieson came first-over with Zeus Lightning on the way to the mid-way point, and they made steady gains from first-over before using a :29.3 closing kick to win by a half-length margin over Slip Into Glide. Fearless Man settled for third prize.

Steve Charlton trains the nine-year-old son of Pegasus Spur-Graceful Action for Larocque Racing Stb Inc of Thornhill, Ontario.
