Set Me Up captured Monday’s opening-day feature at The Meadows when she outdueled Hidden Land in the stretch and took the $20,000 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Pace.
The 2-5 favourite, Set Me Up was on an easy lead with Hidden Land fifth and facing a seemingly futile first-over bid. Indeed, Hidden Land made that move and drew even past the three-quarters. But Set Me Up had just enough to defeat the game challenger for Dave Palone by a head in 1:54.3. Coffee Addict rallied for show.
Ron Burke trains Set Me Up, a seven-year-old daughter of Shark Gesture-Moccasin Flight who boosted her career bankroll to $349,380, for Burke Racing Stable LLC and Weaver Bruscemi LLC.
Jim Pantaleano and Palone each piloted four winners on the 15-race card while Burke enjoyed a triple.
