Pinner, under the command of Marc Campbell, continued his winning ways with his seventh consecutive victory Saturday in the afternoon top class at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The time of the mile was 1:59.2 over a track rated “good” with a two second variant.

Campbell hustled the favourite off the gate from post five to the lead, but Cambest Kisser, with Jason Hughes in the bike, decided to take him on early touching down on the front through a brisk opening panel of :29-seconds flat.

Campbell returned to his game plan moving Pinner back to the point through a :59.2 half with a rated third panel reached in 1:29.2. The Brian Ladner trainee breezed home for his 33rd lifetime score for co-owners Kevin and Lillian Ladner of Charlottetown. Cambest Kisser was second while Mcmaverick and Ken Murphy rallied for third.

The Saturday spotlight was also on conditioner Darren Trainor as he opened the new campaign with four training victories from his Vernon River stable. The parade began in race five with Diagram Hanover (2:03.4) followed by King Of Rock (2:03.1) with newcomer General Simba (2:02) and Le Fugueur (2:02.1), owned by his wife Jennifer, completing a career day at the city oval.

In other action, Abundaspin, who began his final year of racing at age 14, won the Open Trot in 2:07.4 for trainer/driver Harold Shepherd and owner Mikaela Lustic of Cornwall. The win was the trotter’s 72nd lifetime.

Pictonian Zena and Shane Bernard opened the 2014 history books taking top honours in the afternoon's first race.

Campbell and Hughes recorded driving triples. Corey MacPherson had a driving double.
