Highland Mowgli mowed the competition down at Bally's Dover in the $19,000 Winners Over/Select Handicap Trot on Tuesday (Jan. 31) evening.
Ross Wolfenden and Highland Mowgli left alertly from the center of the track, forcing his challengers to take seats as they entered into the first quarter in :28. Ginger Tree Skyr accepted the pocket trip as Quiksilvr Bluechip settled into third. Skyway Bebop braved a quarter-pole move, but was parked by leading Highland Mowgli. The field reached the half in :56.2 and three-quarters in 1:24.4. Highland Mowgli lived up to the bettors' choice as he drew off in the stretch, winning by 4-1/4 lengths in 1:53.4. Ginger Tree Skyr (Corey Callahan) finished second and Muscle Dynasty (Art Stafford Jr.) finished third.
The son of Archangel, Highland Mowgli is owned by Burke Racing Stable LLC and Weaver Bruscemi LLC. Ron Burke trained the winner.
Ross Wolfenden scored three driving wins on the betting card.
Incaseyoudidntknow, Majorca N, and Divine Deo headline the Wednesday (Feb. 1) card at Bally's Dover in the Mares Open. First post time is 4:30 p.m.
