Mikey Camden was dead set on making every call a winning one in the final Preferred Pace of the Winter Meet on a special Monday evening (Jan. 31) program at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

David Dowling rolled the Colin Johnson trainee from post 4 in the $3,200 Preferred pace and went all the way to claim the victory. Mikey Camden sprinted to the lead in :28.2 then set down a tempo of :57.4 and 1:28.2 before fighting off the Gilles Barrieau trained duo of The Rev (Driven by Barrieau) and Mc Pat (Adam Merner) in the stretch drive to win by a length in 1:58.1.

The victory puts trainer Johnson on top of the Red Shores training standings, where he will remain until racing return in the Spring. The ownership papers of Mikey Camden are held by Debbie Element of Village Green and Raymond Huschka of Great Britain.

The Jeff Holmes Stable was perfect on the evening with Magical Cowgirl winning her first assignment off the claim in 2:03.4 in line to Barrieau, while Burn Out Hanover made some tactical changes to sit last and swoop the field in race 3 in 2:00.3 for driver Brady Sweet.

Barrieau scored a driving triple on the evening winning with Woodmere Soul (2:03.4) and Do U Mind (2:00.3) both from the Ron Matheson barn.

The 2022 Winter Meet was completed in race 12 as Smart Official (Jason Hughes) won the finale in 2:00.1 for trainer Saul Lanigan.

Live racing is set to return on May 7 at Red Shores Charlottetown.
