The winning streak is now five-in-a-row and counting for white hot pacer Emerald Lexus, who steamrolled past his foes in a Monday evening assignment at Woodbine
Racetrack.
With Chris Christoforou calling the shots from the sulky, Emerald Lexus was in no hurry thanks in large part to the solid pace being set in front of him. Digam and Cheyenne Oxe battled by the quarter pole in :26.1 before the latter cleared to the top. Our Cam Killean the rushed to the lead and zipped past the half in :55.3 before duking it out with Jepson Hanover to the three-quarter pole in 1:25.3.
Emerald Lexus, who was sixth on the outside when the field turned for home, uncorked a :27.3 final quarter rally en route to winning by three-quarters of a length over Incredible Ben in 1:54. Digam re-emerged in deep stretch and grabbed the show dough in the $18,000 affair.
Sent off as the 1/2 favourite, Emerald Lexus won for the third time in as many starts this season for breeder/owner/trainer Charalambos Christoforou of Campbellville, ON. The five-year-old son of Astreos has banked $45,540 in his career.
In other Monday action at Woodbine, Rose Run Hooligan was second-placed-first in the $30,000 Preferred Trot. Driver Simon Allard and trainer Rene Allard boosted their 2011 win totals on the WEG circuit this season and the eight-year-old son of Corleone notched the 36th win of his career as a result of a placing for interference.
Structure Fire won the trotting tilt, but the O.R.C. Judges promptly lit the inquiry sign and later placed that one for causing interference in the stretch. Rose Run Hooligan ended up getting the win, Ericskarri was third-placed-second and Think Gold was fourth-placed-third. Time for the mile was 1:54.4.
Rene Allard, Anne O’Keefe and Ferme Bureau Et Fils Senc share ownership on the eight-year-old son of Corleone, who is now 1-for-3 this season. The 36-time winner has banked $627,684.
