The Magic Moment lit up the track at The Raceway at the Western Fair District on Friday (Jan. 30) with a gate-to-wire victory in the $11,000 Preferred Handicap Pace.
Piloted by Garrett Rooney, The Magic Moment followed the car swiftly to take early command with a :28.4 first quarter. As the field split in half with a strong outerflow brewing on the outside, The Magic Moment kept on going to clock the half in :59.3 and three-quarters in 1:28.2. Brushing off the advances of his foes, The Magic Moment continued home to win by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:58.4. Odds On Capitalism (Damian Maclellan) was second with Drinkin Buddy (Brady Galliers) third.
The Magic Moment is a four-year-old gelded son of Control The Moment - Wind River Cat owned by breeder Gestion A&A Belanger Inc. along with Cynthia Cote Dupont. Trained by Francis Guillemette, The Magic Moment win his first race of the year, moving his career tally to 15-2-4 in 26 starts with $142,963 in the bank. He paid $3 to win.
