Kawartha Preferred To Amazon Art

A decisive quarter-pole attack proved to be the winning move for driver Gord Brown, who guided race favourite Amazon Art to an impressive score in Monday’s $12,000 Preferred #2 for pacers at Kawartha Downs

Brown was fourth and parked with Amazon Art, who watched Windsun Callum carve out an opening panel of :27 before taking matters into his own hooves. The gelding brushed to the lead in a matter of strides and after clearing to the top he knifed out middle splits of :55.4 and 1:24.3 en route to the 1-1/4 length triumph over Windsun Callum in 1:54.1. Third prize went to Cigar Hall.

Randy Van Meer trains the six-year-old son of Artsplace-Can Du River for owner Harry Locke of Oshawa, ON. It was the first win of the season for the 18-time winner who upped his lifetime earnings to $234,750 with the victory.
