Making his first start for trainer-owner Jamie Copley, Did It Again went all the way to capture the featured $12,100 Preferred Pace on Sunday night at Rideau Carleton Raceway
.
Fresh off a pair of wins at Woodbine Racetrack, Did It Again and driver Stephane Gendron left from Post 4 and led the single file field to the first quarter in :28.1. At that point, defending champion and fan favourite Peenie (Denis St Pierre) moved to the outside from fifth and advanced through a :57.1 half. Peenie was only able to come within a length of the leader, who reached three-quarters in 1:26.1 and took off down the stretch. Did It Again opened up four and a half lengths on the field and stopped the timer in 1:54.4.
Peenie was second best and Priceless Edition (Gord Brown) came in third.
Did It Again, a five-year-old son of Western Hanover-Oath, won five times in 29 outings last year, good for $61,355 in purse earnings. His 10th lifetime score pushed his bankroll over the $100,000 mark.
