Rovasreadytorumble ($13.60) and driver Wally Hennessey were able to fan out three-wide from fifth place on the final turn and gun down both Kid Conway and Pure Jessie to win the $8,500 feature trot at Pompano Park Wednesday.
It was 10-1 Kid Conway and driver Bruce Ranger who started off the seventh race shooting right to the lead from the rail with Better By Design (driven by Fern Paquet, Jr.) grabbing the two-hole spot by the opening quarter mile in :29.2.
But the 4-5 race favourite, Purse Jesse and driver Kevin Wallis, had their sights on the lead and quarter-moved to try and take command, but Ranger parked them out to the half mile in :58 and then kept them hung out to dry on the outside past the three-quarter pole in 1:27.
That was when Hennessey had Rovasreadytorumble in high gear from fifth place, looping the field and coming on in the stretch to win with ease by one and one-half lengths in 1:57.3. Kid Conway bested Pure Jesse for second.
It was the second win in four starts this year for Rovasreadytorumble, a 10-year-old gelded son of Veeba Rova who is trained by Dan Hennessey and owned by the Trot Time Farm of Savannah, Georgia.
