Rockingham Park could join the list of racetracks offering slots-fueled purses if legislation is passed to expand gambling in Salem, New Hampshire

.

According to Fosters.com, Bill Wortman - a Millennium Gaming executive - has put forth a proposal for a casino holding 5,000 slot machines.

Wortman, who started his own gaming company in the 80s, projects the casino could generate up to 1,700 jobs during construction and about 1,000 jobs upon completion. He also said the project could attract five million visitations and bring in revenues of $400 million – a number that would help the state’s budget.

"It's a dynamic project," said Wortman. "Its not going to fix the entire budget problem, it's a very, very good opportunity in the state of New Hampshire for what we do and for the state."
