A field of 18 trotters is set to compete in the 2022 Prix d'Amérique taking place this Sunday (Jan. 30) at Hippodrome de Vincennes in Paris, France.
The €1,000,000 ($1.4 million CAD) event, contested over a distance of 2,700 metres, features two-time runner-up Davidson du Pont, trained by Nicolas Bazire, and Billie de Montfort, the richest trotter in the field trained by Sébastien Guarato. The complete field is listed below.
Notably absent from the prestigious trotting race is two-time Prix d'Amérique champion Face Time Bourbon, who was scratched lame earlier this week and has been retired, according to reports from Sweden. Trainer Guarato said it was not possible to continue to race Face Time Bourbon, a career winner of 35 of his 43 starts and €3,392,880 ($4.79 million CAD), without risk after learning of a congenital problem with the radius bone affecting the attaching ligament. The seven-year-old son of Ready Cash will stand stud duty in the future.
