Big Trip…Big Price…Big Rich

A solid group of seven squared off in Monday’s $28,000 featured trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park, and trainer Richard Moreau sent out the top two finishers in the rich affair.

Big Rich, who was sent off at odds of 26-1, weaved through traffic in deep stretch en route to posting the upset score for driver Louis Philippe Roy.

Big Rich managed to sit a two-hole trip behind On The Ropes through fractions of :29, :58.3 and 1:26.3 before going on the attack. On The Ropes had a comfortable lead coming off the final turn before the Moreau pupils started to power up. B Yoyo came storming down the centre of the track, but Big Rich split through late to post the nose decision over his stablemate. Taking home the show dough was On The Ropes.

The eight-year-old son of Donato Hanover-Kidman Hall improved his 2020 record to 2-0-1 from four tries for partners Ecurie CSL and Frank Spagnolo. The 30-time winner pushed his lifetime earnings over $600,000 with the win. Noteworthy is the fact that caretaker Lynn Cameron takes care of both of the charismatic Moreau trainees.

Big Rich was one of three winners sent out by O’Brien Award finalist, Richard Moreau. Roy guided the Moreau-trained Allstar Seelster to an upset score in Race 5 and that trainer/driver duo struck again in Race 8 with Hemi Seelster.
