Richard Moreau had a memorble night during Monday’s 10-race card at Woodbine Racetrack thanks to the five winners he sent out at the Rexdale, Ontario oval.
The O’Brien Award finalist for Canada’s Trainer of the Year – and the defending champ in that category – nabbed the first three races and tacked on a pair of triumphs late on in what was a dominant night at the office.
The Moreau-trained Big Package took the opener in 1:57.1 before stablemates Camvicted (1:54.1) and Tymal Colossus (1:57) answered in Races 2 and 3. Arrived Late captured Race 6 in 1:56 and Watkins shot up the rail to capture Race 9 to give Moreau the Grand Slam on the Monday evening program.
The Quebec native who resides in Puslinch, Ontario has already racked up 17 wins this season and purses in excess of $300.000. To date, Moreau has sent out more than 4,500 winners while banking over $38 million along the way.
Multiple winning tickets on Monday’s Jackpot Hi 5 wager at Woodbine Racetrack forced a carryover of $191,217.99 into Thursday evening’s tenth race.
Unique Baran was a front-stepping winner in Thursday’s finale at odds of even-money, with Rocknroll Band (7/2), Show Topper (9/2), Smokeys Luck (16-1) and Manipulator (37-1) rounding out the top five finishers. The winning combination of numbers 4-1-6-5-8 kicked back $479.30 to winning ticket holders for a $1-based wager.
