It has been reported that on Tuesday, January 27 the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission will address a concern in relation to the administration of furosemide (lasix) in a special commission meeting.
An article by Greg Hall in The Courier-Journal explains that the issue is in regard to how – or if – the trainer of a standardbred racehorse can be responsible for a lasix violation since KHRC-licenced veterinarians are now the individuals that are required to administer them
The report states that the KHRC-licenced vets are now in charge of administering lasix, but that the commission’s language in regard to penalties are ‘non-specific’ regarding who is liable in the case of a violation.
