The $5,100 Preferred 2 Pace in race 12 on Tuesday, Jan. 27 at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park will feature the red-hot Bee Two Bee as he looks to extend his win streak to seven.
First race post time is scheduled for 6 p.m. (AST) for the 13-dash program that was postponed from Saturday due to extreme cold weather on Prince Edward Island.
Bee Two Bee will leave outside his rivals in post five with Jason Hughes back in the bike for trainer Ashley Gamester and owners Donald MacRae and Blair MacLauchlan. The nine-year-old Sunshine Beach-Bee Fullof Steinam stallion has been dominant during his current run, showing the ability to win on the front or come from behind against top company.
Brigus, to be driven by Adam Merner, has rail control in the feature for trainer Nicholas Oakes after a 1:55 open-length win in his latest on Jan. 17. Malignity holds down post two after winning his last two starts for trainer/driver Paul Langille while T H Boomtown is another major threat from post three with Gilles Barrieau aboard for trainer Ron Matheson after winning the latest Preferred 2 on Jan. 17 in the absence of Bee Two Bee. Post four belongs to Captainofrocknroll, who has banged away with second and third-place finishes in his first two Preferred tries this year for driver Ken Murphy and trainer Jennifer Doyle.
The "Post Time Picks" selects Bee Two Bee to win his seventh straight: “To say Bee Two Bee is sharp may be an understatement considering he’s reeled off six in a row at Red Shores Charlottetown. He’s on the outside looking in today, but judging by the lines, Hughes won’t wait long so we’re calling for seven straight wins.”
On the undercard, the $2,800 PEISHOA-sponsored condition pace in race seven has Mr Rielly as the morning line choice from post one for trainer/driver Corey MacPherson and owners Jim Gorman and Darlene Compton. The eight-year-old son of Steelhead Hanover-Chocolate Art will look to recover from a break in stride in his latest.
