No Vote On Nebraska 'Instant Racing'

It has been reported that a committee within the Nebraska Legislature discussed 'instant racing' Bill 806 on Wednesday, January 25, but that a vote was not taken

.

An article on cbsnews.com explains that proponents of the measure have taken the position that revenues from the machines would go toward the state and the erection of a new racetrack in Lincoln.

"We need some sort of ancillary revenue to get this track built," Horsemen's Park Racetrack General Manager Greg Hosch was quoted as saying. "This is the shot in the arm that will jumpstart our whole industry.

"It will save thousands of jobs already in this state in the horse racing industry and create thousands of more jobs."
