Her Mother Was A 'Mudda!'

Bewareofthisaffair got an overdue trip to the winner's circle when she upset at Cal-Expo in last Friday night’s (January 20) opener over a 'sloppy' track for owner/breeder Wendi Weiner, trainer Nathalie Tremblay and regular pilot James Kennedy.

Last year was a lean one for Bewareofthisaffair as far as wins were concerned. She recorded just one victory in 2011 to go along with a combined 10 second and third-place finishes, but she got the job done her last time out when the conditions were less than ideal.

“She loves an off track,” Weiner told the Cal-Expo publicity department. “If you recall, she won the Kaycees Doll last year in the slop. She takes after her mother, Sanananna, and her brother, Cold Affair, who were huge mudders. I raise my babies outside for the most part, and they all seem to love it when it rains and head for the first mud puddle they can find.”

In last week’s score, Kennedy made what proved to be the winning move with Bewareofthisaffair at the opening quarter. The pair took the lead for good at that point and went on to post a one-length score in 2:02.

“I have to thank 'Nat' and Dave and 'Stretchy' and Chuck, and special thanks to James, who knows her like his own and treats her the best,” Weiner was quoted a saying. “James fits her like a glove, and I can’t thank everyone enough for taking care of my girl.”
