Stepping up into the Preferred ranks, Greystone Ladylike pulled off a 23-1 upset in Friday's $30,000 featured event for fillies and mares at Woodbine Racetrack.

Driven by Billy Davis Jr., Greystone Ladylike swept off cover to defeat eight rivals in 1:53.1.

Favourite Continual Velocity (Jody Jamieson) worked her way to the lead from post eight early on using :26.3 first quarter speed. As she took a breather during the second quarter, Jet Speed (Doug McNair) rolled up from fifth to take over command past the :56.4 half-mile marker.

Down the backstretch, Oceanview Bindi (Keith Oliver) began to advance with Greystone Ladylike following her cover. Oceanview Bindi edged out in front past the 1:25.3 third quarter pole, but had to contend with the oncoming Greystone Ladylike.

Greystone Ladylike wore down that foe and kicked away by three lengths in deep stretch to secure her second win of the season. Oceanview Bindi stayed for second while Continual Velocity rounded out the three finishers.

Greystone Ladylike paid $48 for the upset win. The four-year-old Ontario-sired mare by Stonebridge Regal is owned and bred by James and Jean Caddey of Embro, Ont. Trained by Brent Belore, Greystone Ladylike has hit the board in all four of her 2013 starts to earn $33,990 in purses.
