Another Mares Open To Omen Hanover

On Tuesday, January 25 at Dover Downs, Omen Hanover overhauled front-stepping Shacked Up to win the $26,000 Open Mares Pace in 1:52.3

For the fifth time this season, and the first following four wins by a nose, Omen Hanover, with Tim Tetrick at the controls, sailed down the inside to overtake race favourite Shacked Up (Eric Goodell) in deep stretch and win this week’s distaff feature.

Shacked Up blasted out of the outside Post 6 to quickly take the lead and stopped the timer at each interval but the finale. Omen Hanover sat second from the start and once the passing lane began, Tetrick shot up the pylons to become the winningest distaff this meet.

Nick Surick conditions the seven-year-old daughter of Western Hanover-Oohs N Aahs for KDM Stables of Farmingdale, New York. Boots Place (Ron Pierce) took third.

High Speed Life, driven by Matt Kakaley, followed Ash Larue (George Dennis) on the outside down the backstretch until reaching the homestretch. The Lease On Life-Nano Mark five-year-old overtook the leaders in mid-stretch and paced away to a 1:54 victory in the $18,000 Mares Winners Over Pace. Ron Burke trains High Speed Life for Weaver Bruscemi, Frank Baldachino and Burke Racing. Ireneonthemove (Corey Callahan) closed from last to finish a strong second.
