Standardbred Canada is thrilled to announce that Alarm Detector is the official sponsor of the Gold Afterparty at the 37th O’Brien Awards Gala, which will be held on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026 at the J-AAR Expo Centre at Western Fair District in London, Ont.
The Gold Afterparty will begin immediately following the awards presentations at the O’Brien Awards Black Tie Gala. This year’s event features a vibrant Moulin Rouge theme. Afterparty attendees will receive two complimentary drink tickets, enjoy a live band and DJ, a late-night buffet and the chance to win a special grand prize.
"We are happy to sponsor the Afterparty at this year’s O’Brien Awards,” said Tom Rankin, co-owner of Alarm Detector. "This is a night to celebrate the outstanding achievements of the 2025 season. While we don’t want to overshadow the occasion, we are proud of the success shown by the progeny of Alarm Detector, and are pleased to contribute to the excitement of what promises to be a memorable evening.”
Alarm Detector (Chapter Seven – Final Countdown – Yankee Glide), owned by Tom Rankin along with Elizabeth Rankin, Claude Hamel and Santo Vena, has quickly established himself as a top-tier trotting sire. In 2025, he ranked third among active trotting sires in gross earnings in the Ontario Sires Stakes (OSS) program, behind only Green Manalishi S and Muscle Mass. He was also among the leading sires in North America for average earnings per starter among two-year-olds.
His freshman star and O’Brien Award finalist, Strobe Lite, made 11 appearances in 2025, with nine top three finishes, earnings of almost $380,000 and posted a mark of 1:53.3s. He won a division of the Champlain Stakes and one Ontario Sires Stakes (OSS) Gold leg before capturing the OSS Super Final crown. Alarm Detector is also the sire of Sid The Kid, 4,1:51.1s ($293,350), a recent back-to-back winner of the Open Trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Alarm Detector moves to a new home for the 2026 breeding season at Deerpath Breeding & Development in Puslinch, Ont., and stands for a fee of $4,000. Details on Alarm Detector and breeding inquiries can be directed to Rankin Construction at (905) 684-1111.
