A field of 18 trotters is set to compete in the 2025 Prix d'Amérique on Sunday, Jan. 26 at Hippodrome Paris-Vincennes in France.
The €1,000,000 ($1.5 million CAD) Group 1 stakes event, contested over a distance of 2,700 metres, features defending champion Idao de Tillard as well as 2023 champion Hooker Berry, with both trotters starting from the outside post positions.
A seven-year-old son of Severino out of America de Tillard, Idao de Tillard is the likely favourite as he heads into the Prix d'Amérique off a late December comeback victory over popular rival Go On Boy in the Prix de Bourgogne qualifying leg for driver Clément Duvaldestin, trainer Thierry Duvaldestin and owner Cyril Sevestre.
There will be some sibling rivalry at play when Go On Boy, who finished fourth in last year's Prix d'Amérique, seeks a rematch as his half brother Josh Power, sired by two-time Prix d'Amérique champion Offshore Dream, will also be among the field of contenders.
The complete field is listed below.
