After starting the year 0-for-2 there wasn’t much pari-mutuel respect given to Bo Mach in Thursday’s $28,500 Open Handicap for pacers at Dover Downs, but that didn’t stop the Dylan Davis trainee from posting a 13-1 upset score.

With Corey Callahan at the controls, Bo Mach got away third and watched Rose Run Uriah and Island Of The Sea take turns on the lead through fractions of :26.4, :54.4 and 1:22.4. Callahan found clearance for his charge in the lane and the gelding uncorked a :27.4 final frame en route to winning by a nose over Caviart Eden in 1:51.1. Rose Run Uriah was third.

Howard Taylor of Philadelphia, PA owns the seven-year-old son of Mach Three-Magnify This. The victory was the 23rd of his career and the lion’s share of the purse boosted his earnings over $400,000.
